The Gwinnett Gladiators defeated the Trenton Titans 8-6 on Friday night's pink ice thanks to some amazing efforts when the chips were down.
Twice the Gladiators were down by two goals, 4-2 early in the second and 6-4 early in the third. The Gladiators didn't take their first lead in the game until very late in the third. With 1:45 left in regulation, Pat Galivan earned his fifth point of the game and his second goal of the night. The Glads added another tally on an empty net to total 8 goals.
The game was played on pink ice for the fifth Pink in the Rink. It took the ice crew about 25 hours to create the new ice color. The event lasts through Sunday night and benefits cancer-related organizations in North Georgia. In the past four seasons, the Gladiators have raised $225,000.
